All UGC faculties offer Bachelor’s degree programmes, which are outlined below.

Faculty of Architecture Planning & Urban Design

Students pursuing a B.Sc. (Honours) in Architectural Engineering must complete ten (10) semesters within five years, as well as four (4) sessions of training programmes.

Faculty of Communication Sciences

The faculty awards a Bachelor’s degree in communication sciences in eight (8) semesters, and a degree with honours in ten (10) semesters. Students may choose one of the following specialisations:

  • Journalism and Publication
  • Radio and Television
  • Public Relations
  • Marketing Communication and Advertising

Faculty of Computer Studies & Information Technology

The faculty awards a Bachelor’s degree (with honours) to be completed in eight (8) semesters. Currently, the IT programme includes the study of process, storage, production transmission and reception of data in various forms. The programme consists of four specialisations:

  • Software engineering
  • Information technology
  • Information systems
  • Computer science

Faculty of Economics & Management Sciences

The Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree offered by the faculty is a four-year programme (8 semesters). Students are educated in the general concepts of economics and business management in the first half of the programme, after which students can specialise in one of the following:

  • Accounting and Finance
  • Business Administration
  • Management Information Systems (MIS)
  • Marketing

At the end of the fourth semester, all students are required to complete a four-week internship at a reputable private or public business organisation.

Choosing one of these specialisations depends on the student’s interest and preference, as well as academic standards required by the faculty. These are outlined below.

a. B.Sc. (Honours) in Accounting and Finance

Courses in this specialisation are designed to teach the student how to analyse monetary decisions, as well as anticipate and evaluate the risks involved in any decision. The programme exposes students to a number of important concepts, including:

  • Corporate finance
  • Financial institutions
  • Government accounting
  • Accounting theories
  • Cost accounting
  • Taxation, zakat, insurance, auditing, etc.

b. B.Sc. (Honours) in Business Administration

The programme aims to attract students who are interested in developing their knowledge and skills in business management. The courses are designed to expose the student to a wide range of management theories and concepts, such as planning and organising, operations management, organisational behaviour, leadership, strategic management, human resources, as well as decision-making, analytical and interpersonal skills required to be an efficient and effective manager.

c. B.Sc. (Honours) in Marketing Management

Today’s business environment needs intelligent, creative and educated marketing specialists who are able to understand:

  • The ever-changing nature of the economy
  • Consumer behaviour and attitudes towards the different brands and products.

The faculty’s marketing programme is therefore designed to develop all the scientific and social skills that enable students to project consumer needs to those who produce the goods or provide the services.

d. B.Sc. (Honours) in Management Information Systems (MIS)

Organisations must adapt to the rapidly growing technologies in order to survive. Competition is vigorous domestically or in the global business realm. MIS courses mainly seek to incorporate computer technologies with marketing and business practices. The courses are designed to develop the ability to master and deal with complex quantitative and qualitative problems. It is essentially a problem-solving oriented programme that combines information systems with business and marketing practices.

Faculty of Electronics & Computer Engineering

The Faculty offers the Bachelor’s of Science (B.Sc.) in:

  • Computer Engineering
  • Telecommunications Engineering
  • Biomedical Engineering (2016 – 2017)
  • Industrial Engineering (2016 – 2017)

Faculty of Multimedia & Creative Studies

The faculty awards the Bachelor’s degree in eight (8) semesters, and Honours in ten (10) semesters. The programme is administered through lectures, fieldwork, lab work and workshops.

Students may choose to specialise from Semester 5 in one of the following:

  • Multimedia technology – production, including: filmmaking, design, photography, montage, script writing and direction
  • Multimedia technology – animation, including: design, graphic and animation films.

The faculty has well equipped laboratories, a comprehensive and sophisticated studio, a complete montage unit, computers and all the technical aides that the programme requires.
